More tickets available to Members ahead of ANZAC Round

The Club is delighted to confirm that more tickets will be available to MCC members ahead of this weekend’s blockbuster two Round 6 AFL Premiership Season ANZAC matches.

Update - 4.00pm, Friday April 23

The Club has been closely monitoring the sales of the additional tickets available in the Members’ Reserve to the ANZAC Eve and ANZAC Day matches at the MCG.

For the ANZAC Day Collingwood v Essendon match, ticketing for all visitors and Provisional members has now been exhausted. A limited number of seats remain for Full and Restricted members only.

With limited tickets remaining to the ANZAC Eve Melbourne v Richmond match, this now means Provisional members will be entitled to secure a ticket for themselves and purchase up to two visitor tickets from 3.00pm AEST today via Ticketek, subject to availability.

This follows the additional allocation of tickets that were made available to Full and Restricted members from 1.00pm AEST today.

Full and Restricted members continue to be able to secure tickets until the Members' Reserve allocation is exhausted.

Members will have the ability to secure tickets via Ticketek, in line with the Victorian Government and AFL’s announcement to raise the venue capacity at the MCG to 85 per cent of its standard capacity.

The 85 per cent capacity will extend to the Members’ Reserve, with the Reserve able to host over 19,500 members and guests for both the Melbourne v Richmond and Collingwood v Essendon matches.

More than 2,000 additional tickets for Full and Restricted Members (with an entitlement to purchase up to two visitors tickets) and Annual Guest Card holders, can be obtained via Ticketek from 1.00pm AEST.

Should a reasonable amount of tickets remain available following the 1pm on-sale, Provisional Members (with an entitlement to purchase up to two visitor tickets), will be able to obtain tickets via Ticketek from 3.00pm AEST. Keep an eye on our website and social channels for up-to-date information as the ticket on-sales progress.

With the potential to host 85,000 fans, the MCG could be set to break the record for the largest crowd attendance at a sporting event worldwide since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MCC Chief Executive, Stuart Fox said all members and football fans who have attended opening rounds of the 2021 AFL Premiership Season at the MCG deserved to be praised for adapting to the frameworks put in place to date in which major events, such as AFL matches, can operate.

“We’re very excited to welcome even more members and fans back to the MCG, especially ahead of marquee matches like ANZAC Eve and ANZAC Day,” Mr Fox said.

“To have 85,000 fans at the MCG means further great seats are available for this weekend’s blockbuster matches. It is another great step in returning to some normality, and bringing large groups of people into a space in line with restrictions.

“We owe a massive amount of gratitude to all patrons who have attended matches at the MCG so far in 2021, as well as the broader Melbourne and Victorian community for continually adhering to advice.

“While we welcome the increase, we will still be operating under our COVIDSafe framework and many measures will need to remain in place to ensure the ongoing wellbeing of the community remains paramount and confidence among fans in returning to major events increases.

“We ask all members and fans to keep checking in with our websites and social media channels for all the latest information and arrangements patrons will need to know when attending events at the MCG.”

In light of the 85 per cent venue capacity announcement, the following arrangements for MCG matches will be in place:

Round 6 AFL Matches

• An additional 10,000 tickets will be released across MCC Members, AFL and Club Members and General Public (if not already exhausted). This equates to an additional 2,300 fans in the Members’ Reserve.
• However members who have already secured a ticket to Round 6 matches will unfortunately not be able to change or upgrade their tickets.

Members’ Reserve

• Match categories will remain unchanged for Rounds 6, 7 and 8 despite the capacity increase.
• 50-Year Members and Accessible Seating have increased but are limited.
• Food and beverage outlets and bars will continue to operate as either take-away or service facilities, or a combination of both. Take away bars will continue to be converted to dwell bars post game.
• Members and guests sitting in the Members’ Reserve will continue to be permitted to consume alcohol, purchased within bars within the Reserve, in their seats to assist with congestion in food and beverage outlets.
• Reciprocal access for Members from interstate clubs/venues will remain unavailable until further notice.
• The MCG will continue to be sectioned into five zones to assist in capacity management and contact tracing, patrons will NOT be permitted to move between zones.

Access information into the MCG

• Members will still be required to check into the MCG on arrival, by utilising the Service Victoria app to scan the displayed QR codes and follow the prompts to check in.
• Cloaking facilities will remain unavailable at the MCG for the 2021 AFL Premiership Season. Patrons are asked to ensure bags brought into the MCG are kept to a size that fit under their seats.
• The MCG, including car parking facilities in Yarra Park (if available), and all food, beverage, dining and merchandise outlets will remain cashless transactions.
• Standing Room tickets will not be available.

Staying COVIDSafe

Members are reminded to follow these simple directions to remain COVIDSafe when visiting the MCG:

• Clean hands. Please remember to wash or sanitise your hands regularly.
• Know when it’s time to bow out. Feel unwell or have cold symptoms? Then please stay at home.
• Protect the head. Please wear a fitted face mask when in congested areas (for example in food & beverage outlets, toilets and entering and exiting the venue).
• Stay at least a couple of cricket bat’s length apart. For good measure, please stay 1.5 metres from one another.

The 2021 AFL Premiership Season fixture will continue to be released in stages due to the potential impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
