UPDATE: Second Ed Sheeran MCG show added

Update: Due to overwhelming demand, Frontier Touring is happy to announce the MCG will host a second show of Ed Sheeran's ‘+ - = ÷ x’ (Mathematics) Tour on Friday March 3, 2023.

The announcement of the March 3 show follows tens of thousands of fans snapping up tickets from the pre-sale allocation. This follows the already-announced Thursday March 2 concert, that sees MCG play host to the four-time Grammy Award winner, when the superstar singer-songwriter makes his return to Australia for a massive run of stadium shows as part of the ‘+ - = ÷ x’ (Mathematics) Tour across Australia and New Zealand.

Sheeran will be joined by two incredible artists for both shows – one of the UK’s hottest rising talents, Maisie Peters, and ARIA Breakthrough Artist winner Budjerah.

All tickets for the new MCG concert in all price categories will be available in the general public on-sale tomorrow, Wednesday March 23 from 3.00pm AEDT.

The massive MCG shows will be Sheeran’s first concerts at the venue, and his first Australian tour since 2018. The shows are one of many Tour stops that will see Sheeran also play at the most iconic stadiums in Wellington, Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth.

Sheeran burst onto the scene with his debut album ‘+’ in 2011, including his single ‘The A Team’. The album became a six-time platinum record, and the second best-selling album in the UK in history, while many songs featured as top five hits in Australia.

Sheeran released ‘x’, his second album in 2014, with the album and multiple tracks garnering him Brit Awards and two Grammies for Song of the Year (for ‘Thinking Out Loud’) and Best Pop Solo Performance.

His third studio album ‘÷’ was the best-selling album worldwide of 2017. The first two singles from the album, ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’, broke records in a number of countries by debuting in the top two positions of the charts.

In 2023, fans will be treated to a host of Sheeran’s biggest hits including recording-breaking records from his latest album ‘=’, which debuted at #1 in both Australia and New Zealand with singles ‘Bad Habits’ (five-time Platinum in Australia, three-time Platinum in New Zealand) and ‘Shivers’ (three-time Platinum in Australia and New Zealand).

Cutting-edge production – the likes of which have never been seen before in Australia or New Zealand – will see Sheeran perform in the round surrounded by fans, to some of the largest venue attendances ever.

Information regarding a pre-concert function for MCC members for the additional show will be communicated directly via email in due course.
