O’Neill and Kellaway shine after stellar seasons for Victoria
The MCC’s Fergus O’Neill and Campbell Kellaway have shone at the Sheffield Shield Awards Night and Cricket Victoria State and Big Bash Awards.

Coming off stellar seasons with the ball and bat, the duo were recognised for their efforts at the two awards nights.

At the Sheffield Shield’s Awards Night in March, Fergus O’Neill was named Sheffield Shield Player of the Season for 2024/25.

Accumulating 17 votes – including 100% of the available votes in two matches – O’Neill claimed 38 wickets at 21.07 for the season.

Fellow MCC cricketer Campbell Kellaway finished fifth on the leaderboard with 14 votes.

Both players were also named in the Sheffield Shield Team of the Season.

Both players were also recognised at the Cricket Victoria State and Big Bash Awards last week, along with member of the MCC’s Women’s Premier Cricket Team, Ella Hayward.

Following his recognition for his Sheffield Shield performances, O’Neill was awarded the Bill Lawry Medal for the best performances for a Victorian over the Sheffield Shield Season.

Kellaway was awarded the John Scholes Medal – an award presented to the player judged by teammates to best exhibit Victorian values.

Hayward was awarded the women’s team version of the award – the Women’s Player’s Player Award – for also exhibiting Victorian values.

During the 2024/25 Women’s National Cricket League season, Hayward ranked fifth for wickets taken – claiming 21 wickets with a best bowling innings of 6/31 and seventh on the batting tally with 446 runs and a top score of 1128.

Recognised for her efforts in the competition, she was awarded the Sharon Tredrea Award for the best performance by a Victorian during the season.

MCC Hockey Section
MCC Hockey travels to Singapore for international tournament
It’s one of the biggest events in Singapore Cricket Club’s calendar – and the MCC Hockey Section embarked on the 6,077km trip to get involved.

The Annual International Singapore 6s competition saw more than 50 men’s and women’s teams from around the world compete for the Cup, Plate or Bowls Trophy on the Padang.

This was the MCC Hockey Section’ first entry to the competition – with the Section entering both a men’s and women’s team to compete.

Despite going out in the first round, the tournament was an insightful and memorable experience for all who competed.

MCC Tennis
Three-peat champions for MCC Glen Iris Valley Women’s Team
The MCC Glen Iris Valley’s Women’s Premier League team has etched its name into the history books after claiming a third consecutive Tennis Victoria Premier League title on the weekend.

Led by Alana Parnaby and Stefani Webb, the team delivered a dominant performance across both doubles and singles play. Parnaby and Webb were ruthless in their doubles rubber, securing a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Irina Anghel and Scarlett Dattoli followed suit with an impressive 6-2, 6-1 win in their match.

Claiming a commanding win over Kooyong, the team claimed the title three rubbers to nil with a dominant 38 games to 11.

The three-peat is a true testament to their and consistency and depth across the team throughout the campaign as Monique Barry, Zoe Hives and Savannah James all made significant contributions in the super rounds prior to the final.

The victory sees the team claim their third championship in as many years – a gallant effort for all those involved at the Club.
