2023 AFL Finals Series: Information for members

The Melbourne Cricket Club looks forward to welcoming you to the Members’ Reserve for the 2023 AFL Finals Series and AFL Grand Final.

To access the AFL Finals Series and Grand Final, members must have paid their subscription for the 2023/24 membership season (which commences on September 1, 2023) for their membership card to be valid.

2023 AFL Finals Series

The Club looks forward to welcoming members into the Members' Reserve for the 2023 AFL Finals Series.

While access to AFL Finals Series matches is dependent on the category of your membership, there are two seating options available to secure entry into the match. Members with access entitlements can choose between purchasing reserved seats via Ticketek prior to the match, or access unreserved seating on the day.

Match entitlements in relation to visitor tickets, passes and dining for the AFL Finals Series matches will be confirmed here as the Series progresses. Please note: Provisional members are not able to access AFL Finals Series matches through their MCC membership. 

Members wishing to access the AFL Finals Series and AFL Grand Final must have paid their subscription for the 2023/24 membership season (which commences on September 1, 2023) for their membership card to be valid.

MEMBERS’ DINING ARRANGEMENTS

Access to the Members’ Dining Room, Jim Stynes Grill, Lucy Liu Lounge and Committee Room by Grossi will be confirmed as the Finals Series progresses. Check back here for updates.

Membership expectations and code of conduct

Members and guests in the MCC Reserve are expected to observe a standard of behaviour that is socially acceptable and in keeping with the standards befitting the Club, guided by the MCC Code of Conduct.

A reminder to members that your membership card is strictly not transferable under any circumstances. The Club will conduct random identity checks throughout the AFL Finals Series and members found breaching the Rules could face a hefty suspension or expulsion under the Club’s disciplinary process.

Dress standards

When visiting the Members' Reserve there are certain dress standards that members and their guests must follow.

The dress standards will be enforced in the Members' Reserve at all matches during the 2023 AFL Finals Series, so to avoid any delay at the turnstiles, please ensure that your attire, and that of your guests, is appropriate. Notwithstanding the outlined dress standards, management reserves the right to refuse entry to any person considered not suitably attired.

50-Year member arrangements

Entry to the Members' Reserve
As a 50-Year member, you will be able to enter the Members’ Reserve with one guest during the 2023 AFL Finals Series via the exclusive 50-Year members’ entrance, located on the left hand side of Gate 2. Doors will open at the listed gate opening time.

Reserved seats
You can purchase reserved seating within the exclusive 50-Year member bay or other areas of the Members’ Reserve at matches played at the MCG via Ticketek, subject to availability and capacity.

The number of guests permitted per member will be confirmed depending on the anticipated demand for each match. 

On-sale times will be confirmed as each week’s schedule is confirmed. 

Unreserved seats
You will be able to access limited unreserved seating in the 50-Year members bay (N42) or the general unreserved seating in the Reserve. Should capacity in the 50-Year members’ bay be reached, you will still be able to obtain a seat elsewhere in the Reserve, subject to capacity.

To access the unreserved seating in bay N42, please proceed to the John Landy Room once gates open and see our staff member in the room to obtain a seat ticket for you and your guests for the match, subject to capacity. For certain matches, access to unreserved seating in N42 may be available for members only.


2023 AFL Grand Final

The Club looks forward to welcoming members into the Members' Reserve for the 2023 AFL Grand Final. While access to the AFL Grand Final is dependent on the category of your membership, there are two seating options available to secure entry into the match. Members with access entitlements can choose between entering the Reserved Seat Ballot to secure a place at the match in advance or choose unreserved seating or standing room on AFL Grand Final Day where a physical queue is facilitated outside the Members’ Reserve at the MCG before the gates open.

Only Full members and Annual Guest Card holders have access entitlements to the 2023 AFL Grand Final, subject to Members’ Reserve capacity, adhering to arrangements and being financial for the 2023/24 subscription season.

Restricted and Provisional members will not be eligible to enter the AFL Grand Final Reserved Seat Ballot, or access unreserved seating for the match.

There will be no visitor tickets available for the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

Members wishing to access the AFL Finals Series and AFL Grand Final must have paid their subscription for the 2023/24 membership season (which commences on September 1, 2023) for their membership card to be valid.

Please note, Full members or Annual Guest Card holders successful in the Reserved Seat Ballot will not be able to access the Members’ Reserve until one hour AFTER the gates open on AFL Grand Final Day.

AFL Grand Final unreserved seating arrangements

UNRESERVED SEATS AND STANDING ROOM
Approximately 7,500 seats and 1,000 standing spaces will be made available for unreserved seating access on AFL Grand Final Day on a first-in, first-served basis.

QUEUING
Members and Annual Guest Card holders may queue for unreserved seating for entry into the Members’ Reserve at Gate 2. Aside from comfort breaks, members must remain in the queue and not leave personal items in their place. Any chairs, bags, rugs or other items left unattended for long periods will be removed from the queue. Queuing members will be able to access tea and coffee, as well as bathroom facilities at Trumble Bar and Café between 9.00pm on Friday September 29 and 7.00am on Saturday September 30.

One person in the queue represents one spot. Latecomers are not able to join family or friends already in the queue. Club and security staff will be assigned to continually monitor the queue. Members and Annual Guest Card holders who fail to adhere to these rules may face disciplinary action under the Club’s Code of Conduct. 

In the interest of safety for all, members are asked to enter the Reserve in a  responsible and respectful manner. Running is not permitted when moving your way through the queue or into the Reserve’s seating area.

Children aged 2 years and under as of the day of the match are eligible to attend free of charge provided they are accompanied by an adult, and do not occupy a seat.

MATCH DAY
Once you have selected your unreserved seat on Levels 1, 2 or 3, a Club staff member will issue you with a reserved seat ticket for the match. Tickets on Level 4 will be distributed at the stairwell leading into each bay.

Once you occupy a seat, please remain there until you receive a ticket from a Club staff member. Club staff members will begin issuing tickets within 15-20 minutes of gates opening.

Once you have your reserved seat ticket, you will be able to leave the MCG by scanning out via Gates 1 or 2. Seat saving is not permitted and tickets will only be issued to members or Annual Guest Card holders present.

Designated alcohol-free areas for unreserved seating will be:
Level 1: Bays M38 and M39 - Rows AA to MM
Level 2: Bay N48 – Full bay
Level 4: Bays Q47 and Q48 – Rows CC to MM

Management reserves the right to make changes to the unreserved seating procedure if they become necessary from a health, safety or security perspective.

Accessible seating and wheelchair spaces

Please note that the Club will not be issuing letters to provide as evidence to access the accessible entry queue.

RESERVED ACCESSIBLE SEAT HOLDERS
Members with a reserved seat will be able to enter the Members’ Reserve via the accessible entry on the left hand side of Gate 2. Members will also be able to have one additional person line up with them in the queue. This person must be a Full member, hold an Annual Guest card and/or hold an applicable Companion Card.

UNRESERVED ACCESSIBLE SEATING
Subject to capacity, members will be able to access the unreserved seating at the 2023 AFL Grand Final via the accessible entry queue on the left hand side of Gate 2.

Members will need to have provided relevant medical documentation prior to 5.00pm on Wednesday September 27.

Access to this queue will be granted to those who provide documentation and you can be accompanied by one other Full member, Annual Guest Card holder and/or Companion Card holder.

Grand Final Members' Dining Arrangements

Registrations for dining will be taken on Monday September 25 from 9.00am to 5.00pm AEST Registrations can be made via the Club’s website, the MCC App or via phone. If registrations exceed capacity, a random ballot will be conducted.

Members should note that in the Members' Reserve, seats will NOT be issued to successful dining applicants. Further details on dining, including cancellation policy, access for children and more, visit mcc.org.au/dining.

CASUAL DINING
Soak up the AFL Grand Final Day atmosphere from inside the MCC Reserve with dining options available from the moment gates open.

If you’re joining the queue or planning to arrive early, why not stay a while and enjoy breakfast in Trumble Bar & Café or a breakfast roll in the Long Room.

Hot food will be available in various outlets throughout the day. Stay tuned for timings.

50-Year member arrangements

You will be able to enter the Members’ Reserve for the 2023 AFL Grand Final via the exclusive 50-Year members’ entrance, located on the left hand side of Gate 2.

To access the 50-Year entrance, you will be required to show your membership card to join the queue ahead of gate opening, and can be accompanied by one other Full member or Guest card holder. 

Latecomers will not be able to join family or friends already in the queue. 

Reserved Seat Ballot
Registrations in the 2023 AFL Grand Final Reserved Seat Ballot can be made via the Ticketek website or via phone (1300 136 961) from 9.00am AEST Wednesday September 13 to 5.00pm AEST Thursday September 14, 2023.

In addition to the reserved seating options throughout the Members’ Reserve, you can register for allocated seating in N42 by entering the Reserved Seat Ballot, and selecting the ‘50-Year member (N42) seating’ option. Note: Seating in N42 for the Grand Final is for 50-Year members only and will only be visible to registrations comprising of 50-Year member barcodes. 

If a Full member or Annual Guest Card barcode is included in your registration, only the seating selection options listed in the 2023 AFL Grand Final Members’ Arrangements will be available for you to select.
 
Should you select the ‘50-Year member (N42) seating’, you will only be considered for seating in N42. If you wish to sit with other 50-Year members, you will need to register their barcodes in the one registration. 

The cost of a reserved seat is $35.00 (incl. GST), payable upon registration. If you are unsuccessful in the ballot, the seat cost will be fully refunded to the debit or credit card used to register in the ballot.

In the event that registrations for the 50-Year Bay (N42) exceed the number of seats available, a random ballot will be conducted. Registrations that are unsuccessful in obtaining seat(s) will not be considered for seating elsewhere on Levels 1, 2 or 4.
 
Should you be successful in obtaining reserved seats in the ballot, to assist the Club in managing the allocation of seating to members accessing unreserved seats on Grand Final Day, you will not be able to access the Reserve until 9.00am.

Unreserved seats
If you have not obtained a reserved seat via the ballot, you will be able to access the Members’ Reserve from gate opening time at 8.00am. To access the 50-Year entry, you will be required to show your membership card to access the queue ahead of gate opening, and can be accompanied by one other Full member or Guest card holder.  

You will be able to access unreserved seating in the 50-Year members bay (N42) or the general unreserved seating in the Reserve. Please note only 50-Year members can access the seating in the 50-Year member seating bay, with approximately 40 per cent of the bay available for unreserved seating. 

If you are looking to access unreserved seating on the day, proceed to the John Landy Room once gates open to obtain your seat ticket for the match. Staff will begin issuing seat tickets soon after gate opening.
