MCC vice-president Michael Andrew has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2016 Australia Day Honours List.

Other prominent MCC members to feature in this year's honours list included Western Bulldogs vice-president Dr Susan Alberti, Allan Myers QC and Maria Myers.

Michael Andrew served on the MCC Committee from 2007-11, including as treasurer. He and re-joined in 2014 and was elevated to the vice-presidency last year. He was recognised for “distinguished service to the accountancy profession at the national and international level, and to a range of business, anti-corruption, finance and community organisations.” Find out more about Michael Andrew.

Susan Alberti, one of Australia’s pre-eminent philanthropists, was recognised for “eminent service to the community, particularly through philanthropic and fundraising support for a range of medical research, education and sporting organisations, as an advocate for improved health care services for the disadvantaged, and to young women as a role model and mentor.”

Allan Myers, a prominent lawyer and former president of National Gallery of Victoria, was recognised for “eminent service to the community through philanthropic leadership in support of major visual arts, higher education, medical research and not-for-profit organisations, to the law, and to professional learning programs.”

Mr Myers’ wife, Maria, was also recognised for “eminent service to the community through philanthropic leadership in support of major visual and performing arts, cultural, education, and not-for-profit organisations, and to the advancement of the understanding of Indigenous rock art.” She is chair of the Kimberley Foundation Australia and director of the Australian String Quartet, McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery and Dunkeld Pastoral Company Pty Ltd.
