For the first time in more than 90 years the supplier of first aid services at the MCG will have a new name.

Event Aid has been chosen to replace long-time provider St John Ambulance Victoria after an exhaustive tender process.

A private operator, Event Aid was able to demonstrate a superior ability to satisfy our requirements with respect to processes, management, reporting and resourcing at major events.

It has a wide range of experience in the events and venue industry, including Royal Melbourne Show, Melbourne's Moomba Festival and a host of ride and run events throughout Victoria.  We look forward to working with them during the cricket season and beyond.

“The decision to change first aid provider was not made easily,” said MCC venue and events services general manager, Gerard Griffin. “However, our priority must always be the health and safety of our patrons.

“We appreciate the long-standing involvement of St John Ambulance Victoria at the MCG. We acknowledge their support and thank them for the contribution made to the health and safety of our patrons and staff over many decades.”

Patrons visiting the MCG may still see St John personnel from time to time. As the MCG contract relates only to patron services, event hirers such as AFL and Cricket Australia may still engage St John for player medical services if they so wish.

Security services

Meanwhile, the club has reappointed SECUREcorp as the supplier of security services. The agreement is a four-year term to provide a casual workforce of security personnel at the MCG.

SECUREcorp was first appointed in 2010 and also provides security personnel for a number of major events around Melbourne, including the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island and the Caulfield Cup at Caulfield Racecourse.
