The first-ever AFLW match to be played at the MCG will take place at 12.40pm AEDT on Saturday April 2 as Melbourne take on the Brisbane Lions in the Preliminary Final.

Entry to the MCG for this match will be free for all patrons, with free-of-charge tickets now available via Ticketek.

Melbourne captain Daisy Pearce and key forward Tayla Harris will be among the only few to have played at the venue, being part of two Exhibition Series matches at the MCG in 2013 and 2015.

The match will commence at 12.40pm AEDT, with gates opening at 12.00pm.

Please note: this match is run separately to the AFL game between Collingwood and the Geelong Cats scheduled later Saturday night. Patrons must exit the MCG at the conclusion of the AFLW match. Gates will re-open for the Collingwood v Geelong Cats game at 5.00pm for MCC members, and 5.30pm for the AFL Reserve and general public.

Tickets for the AFLW match will not permit entry to the Collingwood v Geelong Cats game. Tickets for Collingwood v Geelong Cats can be obtained via Ticketek.

COVIDSafe measures

COVIDSafe settings will be in place throughout the MCG, so please play your role and follow these simple directions:
  • Clean hands. Please remember to wash or sanitise your hands regularly, using one of the MCG’s installed 275 Dettol hand sanitisation stations throughout the Ground.
  • Know when it’s time to bow out. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been advised to get tested by a contact, workplace or school, please get tested and isolate until you get a negative result.
  • Protect the head. Pack a fitted face mask, as masks are strongly recommended in areas where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
