The Melbourne Cricket Club is delighted to kick off the 2023 AFL Premiership Season with our MCG Footy Season Launch to be held on Tuesday March 14 in the Members’ Dining Room.

The MCG Footy Season Launch has now sold out. To join the wait list, please click the button above or email mccfunctions@mcc.org.au.

The Launch will once again be hosted by renowned broadcaster, Tim Lane and will feature special guest speakers, including Joel Selwood, Matthew Lloyd, Matthew Richardson and Laura Kane.

JOEL SELWOOD
Selected with the seventh pick in the 2006 National Draft and debuting in Round 1 with the Geelong Cats, Selwood is regarded as one of the most respected and courageous AFL players of all time.

A member of the elite 300-game club, he is a six-time All-Australian, three-time Club Best & Fairest and a four-time AFLPA Most Courageous Player. Records tumbled around him in 2022 as he became the AFL record holder for most games played as captain, most finals games played, and most games played for Geelong.

Selwood’s incredible 16 year career had a fairytale finish, as he hoisted the Premiership Cup after the 2022 Grand Final – his final game for the club.

MATTHEW LLOYD
Throughout his career, Matthew was a five-time All-Australian, a twelve-time leading goalkicker for Essendon, a three-time winner of the Coleman Medalist and Premiership player.

In 2013, Matthew was induced into the Australian Football Hall of Fame and as a Legend in the Essendon Football Club Hall of Fame.

After retiring from playing, he has worked as a commentator and football analyst for various media outlets.

LAURA KANE
Laura is the AFL’s General Manager Competition Management, responsible for the football operations across AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW competitions and the AFL’s response to COVID-19.

Having completed a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2014, Laura represented victims through public hearings at the Child Abuse Royal Commission before moving into the football industry.

Laura held the role of General Manager Football Operations and Strategy at the North Melbourne Football Club working across both men’s and women’s football programs, and has a particular passion for advancing opportunities for women in the football industry.

MATTHEW RICHARDSON
Across his 18-year AFL career, Richardson was known for his exceptional goal-kicking ability and was one of the leading goal kickers of his time, scoring an impressive 800 goals from 282 games.

He was Richmond’s leading goal scorer over 13 seasons and is a three-time All-Australian. In 2014 he was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame and into the Richmond Hall of Fame in 2015.

After retiring from football, he became a popular media personality and has worked as a commentator and analyst for several television networks and radio stations.

The function includes a sit-down three-course lunch, beverages (beer, wine and sparkling), and interviews and is available for all categories of membership who can book with up to 5 guests.

Bookings close on Tuesday March 7, 2023.
