As one of Australia’s most well-known and respected leaders in government and business, Sally Capp AO is best known for her recent tenure as Lord Mayor of Melbourne. Sally was the first directly-elected female Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne. In this role, Sally honed her leadership skills in stakeholder engagement and communication, ESG projects and programs, and managing governance matters in both government and commercial contexts. Leading the City through the pandemic has given her deep insights into key priorities for managing through a crisis.
Sally began her career as a solicitor, after completing Law (Hons) and Commerce degrees at the University of Melbourne. She held senior roles at both KPMG and ANZ, and took the small business she co-founded to the ASX.
She was the first woman to hold the post of Agent-General for Victoria in the UK, Europe and Israel. She has also served as the CEO for the Committee for Melbourne. Prior to her role as Lord Mayor, Sally was Victorian Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia.
A passionate Magpie, in 2004 she made history as the first female board member of Collingwood FC. She has been involved in a number of charities, currently sitting on the board of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and a patron of The Lighthouse Foundation and Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation.
Awarded two Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards, Jacqui has covered numerous state and federal elections and reported on major events around the world. She covered the Black Saturday bushfires, Queensland floods and the Melbourne COVID crisis.
The first female to co-host the Brownlow Medal Count, Jacqui has also worked on major international events including Wimbledon and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and two daughters. On the weekend you can find her watching her beloved Geelong Cats at the MCG, horse riding and keeping Melbourne updated on Instagram.
