The MCG’s 2019-2020 cricket schedule is now confirmed with a strong mix of international and domestic games featured across the summer.
Whether you support your city, state, country or just love to come and watch top-level cricket, there’s plenty of days to choose from.
There will be plenty of action across November, starting with a Twenty20 International between Australia and Sri Lanka on Friday November 1.
For the first time since 2013, the MCG will host domestic one-day matches with Victoria taking on New South Wales in a day-night fixture (Sunday November 17) and South Australia (Tuesday November 19) as part of Cricket Australia’s revamped competition.
The Final of the domestic one-day competition is scheduled for Sunday November 26.
The MCG will host two Victorian Sheffield Shield games in November against Queensland (November 12-15) and New South Wales (November 29-December 2) in a rematch of last summer’s Final.
Western Australia will make the trip to the MCG for a Sheffield Shield game between December 7-10.
The focus will then turn to the traditional Boxing Day Test with Australia hosting Trans Tasman neighbours New Zealand in the marquee match of Australian cricket for the first time since 1987.
January will be about the Big Bash at the MCG with the Melbourne Stars featuring on three of the four Saturdays for the month, a Sunday night game and a mid-week clash.
The England Lions will tour down under this summer and will face off against Australia A in a four-day match at the MCG between February 22-25.
The summer concludes with the MCG hosting the Final of the T20 Women’s World Cup on Sunday March 8, International Women’s Day where the aim is to set a new world record for the biggest attendance at a women’s sporting event.
