AFL confirm Round 23, pre-Finals Bye removed

The AFL has on Monday evening confirmed the final round of home and away fixtures for the 2021 AFL Premiership Season and that the 2021 AFL Finals Series will immediately commence in the week following Round 23.

The previously scheduled pre-finals BYE round will be held over and, in the event it is required, be available to use across the Finals series or in the lead up to the 2021 AFL Grand Final.

The 2021 AFL Grand Final remains scheduled for Saturday September 25.

Venues, dates and times of the Week 1 matches of the Finals series will be known at the conclusion of Round 23.

Richmond and Hawthorn will clash on Saturday August 21 at 1.35pm, before Essendon and Collingwood meet on Sunday August 22, with the match commencing at 3.20pm.

Matches played in Victoria will remain to be played without crowds, after the Victorian Government extended the Greater Melbourne lockdown until 11.59pm on Thursday September 2.
