Bob Skilton is a legend of Australian Football.As just one of four players to have won the coveted Brownlow Medal three times – in 1959, 1963 and 1968 – Skilton is regarded as one of the best players in the history of football.
Skilton played 237 games of VFL – all of them for South Melbourne. Amassing 412 goals for his career, he was the Club’s leading goal kicker three times – in 1959, 1962 and 1963.
In 1982 South Melbourne relocated to Sydney, becoming the Sydney Swans, however the connection to South Melbourne’s Team of the Century captain remained, with the Swans’ Best and Fairest named the Bob Skilton Medal.
