The MCG will host an additional T20 International match of the T20 International Series between Australia and Sri Lanka, following Cricket Australia confirming a revised series schedule.
Additional to the previously announced fixture on Sunday February 20, the MCG will also hold the fourth match of the series, scheduled for Friday February 18, commencing at 7.10pm.The decision for the relocation of these matches from Queensland and South Australia has been made to minimise biosecurity risks by reducing travel across the country.
The additional match brings more T20 international cricket to venue ahead of a massive 2022, which will see the MCG host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final later this year.
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said: “Cricket Australia will continue to prioritise the health and safety of all players, match officials, staff, fans, broadcasters and the wider community as we navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19.
“We thank Sri Lanka Cricket for working closely with us to make the series possible and look forward to five entertaining matches.”
Ticketing and Member arrangements will be communicated in due course for the new match on February 18. No further action is required for ticket-holding members and their guests for the February 20 match.
