Result to determine changes to 50-Year membership arrangements

Dear members,

At the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 16, 2022, the Committee proposed changes to arrangements in relation to 50-Year membership and the introduction of a new category of membership, 50-Year Social.

The proposal was approved by eligible members at the meeting, with 73.82 per cent voting in favour of the motion. However, in accordance with the Club Rules, more than 30 members who attended the AGM requested that the proposed changes be put to the Full membership for consideration through a ballot process.

The Club engaged independent voting services provider, CorpVote, to facilitate the ballot process with Tim Jones of CorpVote appointed as the Returning Officer.

The voting period concluded at 5.00pm AEST on Thursday September 15, 2022 and CorpVote has now provided the Club with the ballot results.

CorpVote has confirmed from a total of 18,581 votes received, the results are as follows:
  • For – 77.48%
  • Against – 22.52%

In accordance with Club Rules, as the motion has been supported by more than 50 per cent of the votes received, the proposed changes to the 50-Year membership arrangements and introduction of the 50-Year Social membership will be adopted.

The motion supported will see the following changes:
  • Formal recognition of 50-Year membership as a classification in the Club Rules;
  • Set subscription fees for 50-Year membership;
  • Inclusion of an initial cohort of female members who meet a set criteria into the 50-Year membership classification; and
  • Creation and introduction of the 50-Year Social membership category.

The changes have been reflected in the Club Rules which are available for review HERE.

Specific details about the changes will be communicated to members following the 2022 AFL Grand Final. Please note that some changes will not come into effect until the start of the 2023/24 membership season, which commences on September 1, 2023.

We thank members for their participation in voting process at both the AGM and the ballot.

Sincerely,

Stuart Fox
