The Melbourne Cricket Club would like to congratulate the 47 members who were recognised in the 2023 Australia Day Honours List.
Members were acknowledged for their service to community, sports and a range of professions including law, science, medicine, business, history, education and more.Former MCC Committee Vice-President David Crow was awarded in the general division of the Order of Australia Medal for his outstanding service to cricket.
David’s contribution to cricket during his time with the MCC is well known including terms as chairman of the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, his role as MCC Cricket chairman and his work in the establishment on the MCC’s inaugural women’s cricket teams.
Former Cricket Victoria Director, Cricket Victoria Life Member and MCC member Susan Crow was recognised for her significant service to sports administration including 10 years on the board of Cricket Victoria and five years as Executive Director for Women’s Cricket Australia.
MCC Hockey Section life member and Founding Women’s Section Chair Margaret Crawford was awarded the Public Service Medal for her outstanding public service in ensuring the integrity of the NSW public sector through her role as Auditor General of NSW.
As she has done through her contribution to the MCC’s Sporting Sections, Ms Crawford blazed a trail in her role within the Audit Office in being the first woman appointed Auditor General in its almost 200 year history while championing change and diversity.
MCG Trust member Belinda Duarte was also recognised in the general division of the Member of the Order of Australia for her significant service to the Indigenous community and to sports administration.
