MCC Women's First XI looking to go back-to-back

The Melbourne Cricket Club’s Women’s Premier Firsts enter Sunday’s Grand Final having done it the hard way after finishing in fourth position and progressing their way through back-to-back knockout finals to earn the right to take on Essendon-Maribyrnong Park, who finished atop the ladder at the end of the home-and-away season.

Eight Premiership players from last season’s victory against Carlton will step out onto the field again including captain-coach Teagan Parker.

However, the loss of some other experienced players such as reigning Club Champion Amy Vine (retired), Player of the Grand Final Hayleigh Brennan (injured) and Steph Townsend (Geelong) provides the opportunity for some new faces such as Lucy Page (who was Player of the Final in last season’s Second XI premiership), Ella Stallwood and Mia Perrin to etch their name into the record books.

The final will return to the CitiPower Centre in St Kilda this year, the venue where the Women's Firsts tasted Premiership success for the first time in 2017/18. Entry is free and the weather forecast is good, so make sure you bring your friends and family down to support!

For those who are unable to make it down in person, the match will also be broadcast live on Kayo Sports from 10.30am.
