The Melbourne Cricket Club would like to thank the almost 8,000 members who completed our 2023 MCC Member Survey in December last year.
Your insights and information received helps the Club identify areas of success and improvement across various aspects of the MCC membership experience, including:- Members’ Reserve operations
- Member benefits and experiences
- Ticketing processes
- Club life
- Technology
- Code of Conduct
Through the survey, the Club established that membership satisfaction remains high, with 74 per cent of members who completed the survey rating their MCC experience seven out of 10 or higher.
From the survey, the Club was also able to identify some key insights about membership operations, including:
- MCC App: The MCC App continues to receive positive feedback from members who utilise the app, however the Club has identified the need to further improve awareness of the app to the wider membership. Further to the app, the MCC is currently undertaking a review of the MCC website to improve overall user experience and functionality.
- MCC Plus: 43 per cent of members who completed the survey use the MCC Plus Program. The program, along with other benefits such as reciprocal access, will be explored further over the coming months to better understand how members view and use these benefits.
- Drinking in seats: 65 per cent of members (including a majority in each membership category) who completed the survey said they were happy with the ability to consume alcohol at their seat in the Members’ Reserve. The survey did uncover the need to further promote awareness and understanding of the alcohol-free bays available on Levels 1, 2 and 4 of the Members’ Reserve, and how they can be accessed on match days.
- Ticketing processes: With a high number of members purchasing tickets via Ticketek regularly for events at the MCG (Reserved Seat and Visitor Tickets, as well as member upgrade tickets for special events), the Club wants to ensure that this experience is as seamless as possible. The Club, along with Ticketek, is committed to improving the user experience in purchasing tickets via the online platform. Additionally, the Club will continue to monitor the split between Reserve Seating and General Admission Seating, and the number of Visitor Tickets available throughout the current AFL season.
- Member dining options: Member dining remains one of the most highly regarded benefit the Club has to offer. We received strong feedback through the survey that evening meals – particularly after matches in the day/twilight time slots, would be a welcomed addition for these match days.
- Code of Conduct: Member & guest discipline continues to be a focus of the team to ensure we remain a safe and inclusive Club. The survey found that majority of members are satisfied with the current dress standards for the Members’ Reserve, and all members who completed the survey are aware that their membership is non-transferable.
Next Steps
As part of the Club’s commitment to ensuring the MCC membership remains a treasured experience, the Club is running some Member Workshops in the coming months to explore and understand some of the survey insights in more detail. If you are interested in participating in these workshops, please keep an eye on your inbox next week for an Expression of Interest form from the MCC. All members who participate in these workshops will be compensated for their time.
