Ted Baillieu retires from the MCC Committee

The Melbourne Cricket Club would like to inform members of the retirement of longstanding Committee member Ted Baillieu.

Ted Baillieu

Ted has been an MCC member since 1977 and a Full member since 1985. He joined the Committee in 2017 after a successful career in politics, where he served as leader of the Victorian Liberal Party and the 46th Premier of Victoria from 2010 to 2013.

During his eight-year tenure on the Committee, he served in several roles, including Member of the Club Sub-Committee, Director of MCC Sports Limited, Director of MCC Foundation Limited and Director of MCC Heritage Limited. He also served as Liaison for the MCC Lacrosse Sporting Section and was on the Member Discipline Committee and Appeals Committee.

He has made significant contributions across numerous portfolios, and his heavy involvement in the membership review process helped to inform the future of membership. He has been an enthusiastic attendee at functions and has taken a keen interest in Club life on and off the field.

He has been a strong advocate for reformed membership reinstatement processes, facilities development, broadening multicultural relationships, embracing indigenous engagement and developing tribute recognition policies. Ted’s expertise in this space has had an impact within the membership review project and the Club’s first Reconciliation Action Plan process.

The Club would like to congratulate Ted on his retirement and thank him for his outstanding service to the Committee and Club. It is the intention of the Committee not to replace the vacant position at this time.
