The Melbourne Cricket Club would like to congratulate its members who were recognised for their service in the 2025 Australia Day Honours List.
Members were acknowledged for their contributions to industries including medicine, manufacturing and conservation, sports including tennis, cricket and sailing as well as military and police service.
Olympian John Peers was among those awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia following his gold medal victory alongside Matthew Ebden in the men’s doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Paris Games were Peers’ third Olympic appearance and second medal after claiming bronze alongside Ash Barty at the 2021 Olympics.
Peers also recently won the mixed doubles title at the Australian Open alongside Olivia Gadecki.
Australian Cricket Hall of Fame member and women’s cricket pioneer Raelee Thompson has been appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for services to cricket.
Thompson’s influence has been felt across many facets of the game from her time as a player, including a stint as captain of the Australian Women’s Team, coach, selector and administrator.
Thompson was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2022, and honoured with Life Membership from Cricket Victoria in 2018.
