The MCC Foundation is pleased to have reached an agreement with Riversdale Golf Club to purchase the current MCC Glen Iris Valley tennis site.
After a merger with the Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club in 2016, the section now plays under the name of the MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club with the main centre consisting of 12 en-tout-cas courts at 270 High Street Road in Mount Waverley.
The purchase of the site allows for a permanent home for the section, cementing the MCC Foundation's purpose to encourage and promote the playing of sport.
The MCC Foundation continues to invest in facilities to enhance participation across all of the Club's sporting sections. This acquisition adds to the management rights of the Albert Ground, two Beaumaris football ovals and the hockey field in Elwood.
MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club site will continue as normal with the section managing operations.
The MCC has a rich and proud history in tennis with courts first being built for members in the 1870s before the Tennis Section was officially formed in 1879.
The section fields several teams for men and women of all ages and abilities in both the Tennis Victoria winter Pennant competition and the Bayside Regional summer competition.
MCC teams also compete in Tennis Victoria's summer Premier League and in the Asia Pacific Tennis League.
Past and present MCC players have also represented both the club and Australia in several state, national and international competitions - including the Davis Cup.
