The club is pleased to advise that Clare Cannon and Adrian Anderson have been appointed to the MCC Committee to fill casual vacancies.
Clare Cannon
A former chair of the Women of the MCC interest group, Clare has spent most of her career in the community sector. She was the founding CEO of Earthwatch Australia, a founding board member of the Melbourne Community Foundation and a Bush Heritage committee member.
Clare is also the founder and current chair of Cricket Without Borders (CWOB), a concept now in its sixth year designed to encourage girls around the world to play cricket. The philanthropic group has led girls cricket tours to England, Singapore, Darwin, Japan and Fiji.
Clare is passionate about expanding opportunities for young women in regards to education, career and sport. She pursues this not only with CWOB, but in her role as Chair of St Catherine’s School Council. Clare also runs a grazing property north of Albury.
Adrian Anderson
Adrian is a barrister who has a broad practice specialising in media and sports law and disciplinary tribunals. He is a former partner of Corrs Chambers Westgarth with commercial and practical experience as a senior executive for major professional sports.
Adrian started his career at Corrs in 1996 and became a partner in the commercial litigation division in 2003.
In 2004, Adrian joined the AFL as general manager of football operations, a position he held for nine years. During that time he was responsible for the day-to-day running of the AFL competition, including the AFL’s rules and its Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.
Immediately prior to coming to the Bar last year, Adrian advised major professional sports and conducted reviews on disciplinary, integrity and governance matters. This included six months as interim CEO of Cycling Australia and consulting to Cricket Australia and NRL.
He is chairman of the PGA Appeals Board and MyGolf, is a Victorian Amateur Football Association tribunal member and director of National Golf Holdings Ltd.
