The Melbourne Cricket Club is excited to welcome you into the Members’ Reserve for the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

Only Full members, Restricted members and Annual Guest Card holders have access entitlements to the 2022 AFL Grand Final, subject to Members’ Reserve capacity, adhering to arrangements and being financial for the 2022/23 subscription season. There will be no visitor tickets available for the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

Please note, Full members or Annual Guest Card holders successful in the Reserved Seat Ballot will not be able to access the Members’ Reserve until one hour AFTER gates open on AFL Grand Final Day.

Restricted member access

Limited tickets will become available for Restricted members to today’s 2022 AFL Grand Final.

After assessing the early walk up arrivals of Full members, the Club has made the decision to make a limited number of tickets available to Restricted members.

Further information about on-sale times and access will be communicated directly to eligible Restricted members.

Members are reminded to ensure their 2022/23 subscription must be paid to avoid any delays. This is to be done in advance.

AFL GRAND FINAL WALK UP SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

Unreserved seats and standing room
Approximately 7,500 seats and 1,000 standing spaces will be made available for walk up access on AFL Grand Final Day on a first-in, first-served basis.

Queuing
Members and Annual Guest Card holders may queue for walk up seating for entry into the Members’ Reserve at Gate 2. Aside from comfort breaks, members must remain in the queue and not leave personal items in their place. Any chairs, bags, rugs or other items left unattended for long periods will be removed from the queue.

One person in the queue represents one spot. Latecomers are not able to join family or friends already in the queue. Club and security staff will be assigned to continually monitor the queue. Members and Annual Guest Card holders who fail to adhere to these rules may face disciplinary action under the Club’s Code of Conduct. Tea and coffee points will be available for those queuing on AFL Grand Final morning.

In the interest of safety for all, members are asked to enter the Reserve in a safe, responsible and respectful manner. Running is not permitted when moving your way through the queue or into the Reserve’s seating area.

Children aged 2 years and under as of the day of the event are eligible to attend free of charge provided they are accompanied by an adult, and do not occupy a seat.

Match day
A map of walk up areas can be found here. Once you have selected your walk up seat on Levels 1, 2 or 3, an attendant will issue you with a reserved seat ticket for the match. Tickets on Level 4 will be distributed at the stairwell leading into each bay.

Once you occupy a seat, please remain there until you receive a ticket from an attendant. Attendants will begin issuing tickets within 15-20 minutes of gates opening.

Once you have your reserved seat ticket, you will be able to leave the MCG by scanning out via Gates 1, 2 or 3. Seat saving is not permitted and tickets will only be issued to members or Annual Guest Card holders present.

Walk-up seating is located in the following areas:

  • M37
  • M38-M39 (rows A-Z)
  • M38-M39 (rows AA-NN - no alcohol)
  • M40

Level 2
  • N43-N44
  • N45 (rows A-L)
  • N47
  • N48 - no alcohol

Level 3
  • P42-P45

Level 4
  • Q37-Q46 (rows CC-MM)
  • Q47-Q48 (rows CC-MM - no alcohol)

Accessible walk up seating is available in the following bays:

Level 1
  • M39 (no alcohol)
  • M40
  • M42
  • M43
  • M44
  • M45

Level 2
  • N48 (no alcohol)

Level 3
  • P42
  • P45

Level 4
  • Q40 (restricted view)
  • Q41

Designated dry areas for walk up seating will be as follows:
Level 1: Bays M38 and M39 - Rows AA to MM
Level 2: Bay N48 – Full bay
Level 4: Bays Q47 and Q48 – Rows CC to MM

Management reserves the right to make changes to the walk up procedure if they become necessary from a health, safety or security perspective.

MEMBERS’ DINING

The registration period for the Members' Dining Room and Jim Stynes Grill for this event has now closed. Information regarding dining will be sent directly to members via email.

Members should note that in the Members' Reserve, seats will NOT be issued to successful dining applicants. Further details on dining, including cancellation policy, access for children and more, visit mcc.org.au/dining.

Casual dining

Soak up the AFL Grand Final Day atmosphere from inside the MCC Reserve with dining options available from the moment gates open.

If you’re joining the queue or planning to arrive early, why not stay a while and enjoy breakfast in Trumble Bar & Café or a breakfast roll in the Long Room.

Hot food will be available in the following outlets throughout the day:

Trumble Bar & Café: Breakfast will be available between 8.00am and 10.00am. The Café will then close for half an hour, before re-opening for lunch between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Long Room: The famous Long Room will serve a snack breakfast of breakfast rolls between 8.00am and 9.00am on AFL Grand Final Day. Lunch service will then begin from 10.30am, running until 2.30pm. Please note, dress standards apply throughout the day in the Long Room.

Stumps Tavern: The Stumps Tavern menu, featuring a range of bar snack favourites, will be available from 10.00am.

Tower 6: From 10.30am Tower 6 will serve its fan-favourite woodfire pizzas and snacks.

Accessible parking

For the 2022 AFL Grand Final, disability permit holders will be eligible to pre-purchase a car park pass in Yarra Park online from 9.00am on Tuesday September 20.

Disability permit holders will be able to guarantee a parking spot in Yarra Park by pre-booking a parking space for $10 via Ticketek. Please note, passes are limited.

The G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service

The G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service operates during public events held at the MCG.

The service is free and accessible to patrons with mobility challenges and in 2022, the G-Train will also feature vehicles with wheelchair-friendly access.

Pre-booking is not required; simply wait at a designated pick up point for the next available buggy. The service has pick up points from the following locations:
  • Richmond Station
  • Jolimont Station
  • Accessible Parking Area

At the 'G

  • Plan to arrive early and leave plenty of time for the entry process.
  • You will be required to enter via the Gate 2. Have your membership card ready to scan into the Members' Reserve.
  • All food, beverage and merchandise outlets will be cashless – so all transactions will need to be made on your debit, credit or MCC Plus membership card.
  • The MCG is a smoke, e-cigarette and vape free venue. Patrons found smoking or vaping inside the Ground will face immediate eviction and could face further disciplinary action by the Club.
  • The MCG’s official hygiene partner, Dettol, has installed 275 hand sanitisation stations throughout the Ground to support good personal hygiene practices.
  • At the MCG, your safety is our priority. If you experience any form of antisocial behaviour, please report it via the MCG's antisocial text hotline on +61 409 117 621.

Australian Sports Museum

The Australian Sports Museum is open before the bounce.

Located at Gate 3 inside the MCG, the Museum showcases the best of Australian sports including AFL, cricket and the Olympics.

For this match, the Museum is open from 9.00am-2.00pm.

Please note: MCG Tours do no operate on event days.

Plan your journey with Metro Trains

If you’re using public transport to return home from the AFL Grand Final, avoid delays by topping up your myki before you reach the barriers and have it ready as you exit the train.

Please be aware that after the game there will be increased congestion and delays getting onto the platforms at Richmond and Jolimont stations.

Metro will be running extra trains to get you home after the game. For more information regarding extra services please visit ptv.vic.gov.au/afl-2022.

Richmond station access:
  • Cranbourne/Pakenham, Frankston and Sandringham line passengers are advised to use Olympic Boulevard via Gate 7 footbridge.
  • Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein and Glen Waverley line passengers are advised to use Brunton Avenue via Yarra Park.
  • Passengers for Flinders Street services can use either route.

Passengers travelling from Southern Cross station to the MCG:
  • Quickest way is via Jolimont station – change to platform 9 to travel through the City Loop.
  • Via Richmond station – change to platform 13 to travel via Flinders Street station.

Passengers leaving the MCG returning to Southern Cross station:
  • Avoid the queues and save time – catch a train from platform 1 at Jolimont station which will go via Flinders Street station to Southern Cross station.

Membership expectations and code of conduct

Members and guests in the MCC Reserve are expected to observe a standard of behaviour that is socially acceptable and in keeping with the standards befitting the Club, guided by the MCC Code of Conduct.

A reminder to members that your membership card is strictly not transferable under any circumstances. The Club will conduct random identity checks throughout AFL Grand Final Day and members found breaching the Rules could face a hefty suspension or expulsion under the Club’s disciplinary process.
