Your guide to Club functions in 2025

Don’t miss a function this year, with a jam-packed schedule of functions for every member.

The Club, as well as its six Special Interest Groups, host functions throughout the year that cater for everyone.

See some of the highlights for each month below, and be sure to keep an eye on our Upcoming Functions page for new and exciting functions.

March

Celebrate the return of footy to the ‘G for the new season with the MCG Footy Season Launch. With guest speakers Abbey Holmes, Luke Hodge and Brad Johnson the Footy Season Launch is a must-attend regular on the Club functions calendar. Bookings are now open for the function and close on Monday March 3 unless sold out prior.

Earlier in the month, the Women of the MCC host their Women in Wine function, which features wine from Feathertop Winery matched with a specially crafted menu.

April

50-Year members – this one is for you! Join us for the first of two dates of our Annual 50-Year Member Luncheons on April 17 – the second date falling in October. 50-Year members are reminded that they can only access one of the two 50-Year Member Luncheons.

Celebrate Easter in the Members’ Reserve during the Round 6 clash between Melbourne and Fremantle. The first MCC Easter Egg Hunt commences prior to gates opening throughout Level 1 of the Reserve.

Round 7 – ANZAC Round – sees the world of football pay respect to those who have served our country with the ANZAC Day Eve and ANZAC Day matches. During these two matches, the MCC Military Veterans’ Group will also host their annual ANZAC Day Eve and ANZAC Day functions in the Hans Ebeling Room for MCC members who are current or ex-service personnel.

May

The May function calendar kicks off with the Long Room Wine and Food Society’s Annual Dinner – bringing together fabulous wine paired with delicious food for an unforgettable night.

The Club also hosts reciprocal Club members, the Victorian Racing Club, for the MCC/ VRC Match Day Function. Held during the Richmond v North Melbourne match on Sunday May 18, this is the perfect opportunity for members of both Clubs to mingle and enjoy a day at the football.

June

In June, we pay homage to the sport of football at the prestigious Norm Smith Oration. This night of celebration of all things AFL sees guest speakers propose a toast and response to the game and share their personal football story. Stay tuned for guest speaker announcements.

July

The kids are taking over Tower 6 once again this July. Celebrate the school holidays with the MCC and bring your kids to the footy at the ‘G! Tower 6 will be filled with kids activities, face painting, giveaways, live entertainment and pizza specials.

The annual Long Room Wine and Food Society Waitlist Dinner is also held in July – giving those waiting to join the group the chance to indulge in fine wine and deliciously-paired food.

August

Another of the Club’s great traditions, the Annual Bradman Luncheon, pays tribute to one of the greatest cricketers to play the game. This yearly tradition, falling near-to The Don’s birthday, features prominent guest speakers from the international cricketing community.

The Young Members’ night-of-nights comes in August with the Young Members’ Ball. This favourite function on the Group’s calendar sees the Members’ Dining Room transformed into a dancefloor for a night of dancing and celebration.

Our newest 50-Year members are also acknowledged in August with the New 50-Year Member Lunch.

September

The AFL Finals Series is here and the MCC is celebrating throughout September!

The traditional Brownlow Dinner with the Coodabeens returns for football’s night of nights as the prestigious Brownlow Medal is awarded to the league’s best and fairest.

Then, soak up the atmosphere the day before the AFL Grand Final with our Grand Final Eve Lunch, and overlook the hallowed turf of the MCG as the final preparations are made before footy’s biggest day.

October

Back for its third instalment, the Members’ Progressive Dinner returns this October. Tour through the Members’ Reserve and inner sanctum of the MCG as you enjoy drinks and delicious, themed menus to match each stop.

The Women of the MCC’s marquee event – their Business Breakfast – is also scheduled for October, bringing leading female business professionals together for an inspiring panel to begin your work day.

November

Returning from its impressive debut in 2024, Cup Day at the ‘G returns in 2025, with members and their guests encouraged to dress up in their best race wear and compete in Fashions at the ‘G while enjoying the race that stops the nation.

One of the most prestigious nights on the MCC calendar – the MCC Members’ Dinner – celebrates the sport of cricket as the MCG prepares for the Ashes Boxing Day Test. A can’t-miss for cricket enthusiasts, the Members’ Dinner will see guest speakers talk about their connection to the game, and preview the matches ahead.

December

December is full of functions for everyone – packed with end of year Christmas celebrations and of course, the Boxing Day Test Breakfast and Women in Cricket Breakfast.

Summer at the ‘G on Friday evenings also makes a comeback – what better way to kick-off the weekend then enjoying the stunning summer sunset with our Spritz of the Day. Santa Photos at the ‘G also returns – so bring along the kids and get your Christmas Card photo sorted with the iconic MCG backdrop.

The MCC will also once again be hosting Christmas Day Lunch for members in the Committee Room by Grossi, Members’ Dining Room and Long Room.

See out the year that was – and welcome in 2026 – as New Year’s Eve at the ‘G returns, where you can dance the night away and enjoy stunning views of the city’s fireworks at midnight.
