MCC Reserve

A sporting club like no other

The wait is over!

We are delighted to offer you Provisional membership of the Melbourne Cricket Club, effective from the commencement of our next membership season beginning on the first of September.

The Melbourne Cricket Club is a sporting club like no other.

Since its foundation in 1838, the Club has played a pivotal role in promoting and developing sport within Australia and around the world.

In 1853, the Melbourne Cricket Club moved its ground – the mighty MCG – to where it still sits today within the Yarra Park precinct. In a unique management arrangement, the MCC continues to manage the MCG and Yarra Park for the state of Victoria and the people of Australia.

The land where we are now based is of profound cultural significance to the Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Yarra Park was a location where people of the Kulin Nation would assemble periodically for ceremony, dance, sport and business laying the foundation for what the land is still used for today.

We oversee participation in 13 sporting sections with more than 2,500 participants across Australian Football, Baseball, Bowls, Cricket, Croquet, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Lacrosse, Real Tennis, Squash, Tennis and Target Shooting.

We respect and treasure the past through our pursuits in managing the Australian Sports Museum, MCC Museum and the MCC Library all located at the MCG and available to be enjoyed by members.

In 1859, our members drew up the first set of rules for Victorian Rules - later Australian - Football, laying the foundation for the modern AFL. In 1862, the Club hosted the first tour by an English cricket team. And in 1877, the MCG hosted the very first Test match of cricket. Before also hosting the first ever One-Day International Cricket match in 1971.

The MCG has been home to the 1956 Olympic Games, the 2006 Commonwealth Games, two ICC Men’s One-Day International Cricket World Cups and one ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

None of this would have been possible without our members and we’re so excited to now have you involved.

Today, the Melbourne Cricket Club counts more than 136,000 members, whose passion for sport is as strong as it is lasting. Like the Club’s founders, our members don’t settle for just watching the game – we seek to advance it.

We have partnered with community organisations that help us in promoting access and participation in sport. Because we know sport is a powerful vehicle for unity, acknowledgement and respect.

Through membership of the Melbourne Cricket Club, you will be able to enjoy live sport at the MCG in the MCC Members’ Reserve. Or attend member only functions held throughout the year. Or become involved in one of our Sporting Sections or special interest groups – such as the Bridge Club, Long Room Wine & Food Society, Military Veterans Group, Women of the MCC, MCC Young Members and the XXIX Club.

To accept your offer of membership, please follow the steps outlined in your letter or email of offer.

We look forward to welcoming you as a Provisional member of the Melbourne Cricket Club and trust that you will take pride in your association with Australia’s oldest and most prestigious sporting club.
